Kill Kill Kill
“I have just returned home from "Operation Iraqi Freedom". I spent 5 months in Baghdad, and a total of 3 years in the U.S. Army. I was recently discharged with Honorable valor and returned to the States only to be horrified by what I've seen my country turn into. I'm now 22 years old and have discovered America is such a complicated place to live, and moreover, Americans are almost oblivious to what's been happening to their country. America has become "1984." Homeland security is teaching us to spy on one another and forcing us to become anti-social. Americans are willingly sacrificing our freedoms in the name of security, the same Freedoms I was willing to put my life on the line for. The constitution is in jeopardy. As Gen. Tommy Franks said, (broken down of course) One more terrorist attack and the constitution will hold no meaning.”
More than a few soldiers who do not believe in the war have sent letters from Iraq
Posted at December 26, 2003 7:00 PMI salute you brother, I am an attorney and believe you are right on. About a 100 years ago, our supreme court started straying from the constitution. Over the las 50 years the Supreme court has just been ignoring the constitution. This has had a horrible effect on our lower courts and apellate courts. Basically the lower courts see the supreme court disregard the constitution, and are following their example, issuing many horribe and illegal opinions. Scalia said today that the supreme court does not need to rely on starie decisis, that is issuing opinions on cases regarding specific legal issues and then following these precedents in order to create fairness and predictibility. This is the foundation of our legal system for developing case law. Scalia says we can ignore prior legal opinions and just look to what the framers had in mind when drafting the constitution. Although the court should look at what the framers of the constitution had in mind when the constitution was drafted, the framers intended flexibility leaving gray areas so that the constitution could adapt to changing times, alot is left out. Whas Scalia is doing, is hoping to get rid of all prior precedents that may conflict with their current views, or in other words disregard the constitution and make all sorts of rulings as a pupet for the white house or their hidden agenda. This is very scary. I never thought I would see the day, the court would decide to get rid of our case law approach. Basicaly our Supreme court has crossed a line that is equivelent or worse than the Nazi Judges. They cleary are trying to turn our country into a police state, or dictatorship.
Scary,
Eric
