Support Our Troops
When people say "support our troops" generally they are full of shit. Why should we support our troops? What does support our troops mean?
Wars are the issues. Sure the lives that are killed are important, but saying we support our troops will never bring back lost lives.
I got kicked out of the navy for using drugs. I asked for help before I got in trouble and my chain of command ignored me right up until they had to destroy their own records of my work performance. I couldn't even get a job bagging groceries because I tried to do something most people couldn't. I don't care what they say, you don't know the effects of no sunlight, low food quality, no control, negative environment, abnormal schedule, and low oxygen levels will have upon your mind until the evil people throw you in that environment.
It's nice to know that when you get out people no longer want to support our troops. Now my own story would be a bad example since the military blatently lied about my service to protect their own bogus justice system. This is not the issue at hand.
Let's talk about my friend Mike. He is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. When he got out of the navy nobody wanted to support our troops. He could not get a job at radio shack or best buy. Being a nuclear reactor operator who knows a ton about electronics does not qualify you for a job working at radio shack or best buy.
I am not saying that he just deserves jobs because he lived through hell. I am stating that the "opportunities" that the navy opens are lies. People do not support our troops. He got nearly a perfect on his SAT's and could not get into the school of his choice. Hopefully somewhere out there someone will want to support our troops. Hopefully he can go to school somewhere.
As far as employment goes, he was unable to find a decent job. I farm work out to him. That is right, this horrible druggie who the navy attempted to destoy has spare work to hand out to others.
Lets take another look at the support for our troops. My roommate today just got the information back that he was not accepted to Penn State based on bad grades he got nearly a decade ago. Think of that for support our troops. He bought a place out here and now the school just says "sorry ...sucks to be you." Thousands and thousands of students go to school here. Few of them know the horrors of navy nuclear power aboard fast attack submarines.
Right now we are throwing out this bullshit support our troops motto as much as ever. And when you look at reality, there is no real support our troops. It's all bullshit.
It reminds me of my old roommates father. After returning from Vietnam he went right back for a second tour. When he came back here he stepped off the plane to the beautiful breeze of a beer being smashed across the back of his head. How is that for a welcome home?
When you join the service frequently you are viewed as a traitor when you get out. Many people come back to the world from a warped reality unable to fit back in. The suicide rate for vets is higher than the general populus for a reason. Many more die than those who paint the battlefields a vibrant autumn red.

i am also on a sub and it looks like they are finally gonna get around to kickin' my butt out of the navy. i am little weary about it since i would like the MGIB and i only got like a year left anyways, but i feel pretty excited also about the prospect of getting kicked out before my crew goes on patrol. i totally agree with you dude, about "support the troops" and all, i know the Navy is evil and i know i can be a sucess even if i do get booted! i am getting booted for missing ship's movement(due to Subase cops), defending myself physically, not wearing all my proper PPE on watch, "disrespect" to an officer, failure to qualify on time(due to my REAL learning disabilities), yeah, that's all right now. Yet, i see guys with DUIs get off 'cause they are in the PRP!!!! i hate the navy!! and i hope they do boot me so i can prove their is life after non-honorable discharges! :) again, God Bless you for expressing your views and knowledge!
Well, let me say that both of you have pretty decent views of the world and what goes on in the navy. Kevin, you may need to get into the real world a little bit more, you seem like an angry teen mad at your parents trying to revolt due to your own mistakes.
About the false statement of supporting our troops, this is very true. Everyone loves you when are in, once you are out of this so called altered universe, you are just another joe on the street. Thats life I guess. There are now more thanks once you are out. No more congratulations or pats on the back. Thats not how it works, thats not supposed to be what you are in for. You join for the love of a very twisted country. Though it is very twisted and backwards most of the time. It sure beats being in many other countries.
Take a look at many other places in the world and ask yourself "would I like to live that way?" I am most certain of the answer, NO! We have many freedom's, luxuries, and opprotunities here in comparison to most anywhere else in the world.
So lets stop bitching about the system (Which I do agree is very F&$ked up), and get out make something of ourselves, vote, help others, I.E Arron and his friend whom he has employed. Then when you are making movements in the foward direction instead of spinning our tires in the mud while bitching, you will then have all right in the world to bitch and moan all you want. Aaron I am very impressed with your well put thoughts, staements, and points of view. Keep moving and you will do great things. I agree very much, now lets take back whats ours.

I got booted out the navy in 2001. When I got home all I did was find work and made up some company to get a bulllshit security guard and went on from there. They told me so much bullshit before i got out that I could not get a job when I got out not even in mcdonald's. Its all a load of crap.And it doesn't show up when you get a job either just put you never been in when the application ask you if you ever served.

i would have to say this is the most honest bord i have read about the navy i just recently got an oth for drug us yes i did say drug use and u know what i am really glad in a way the real navy is a fucked up warped version of reality and as for the support our troops hats go off to the guy who poseted the first comment i would agree 100 precent but the military is such a joke and they really do brain wash u but correct me if i am wrong but the whole time ur in from boot camp to a school to the fleet u are tought u are military and everyone else is civilian well if u ask me that is basicly telling us that hey we are better than everyone else wich is a really sad thing bc wernt we all created as equals

mine is more a question than a comment I was kicked out of the navy during boot I had failed the drug test and just barly with a thc count of 22 (17 cutoff) and got a re-4 code which I think is the worst but i had heard there was a way lower your code which I was tryin to do.
You all need to get a life. Sure, the Navy sucks. I know this, because I've been in since SEP 2000. I'm ready to get out soon, and I hate it now more than ever. Man up and admit that you F*^)ed up by using drugs. You all should have gotten kicked out. There is no excuse whatsoever for using drugs while in the Navy, knowing the NO TOLERANCE policy. Hell yeah they all should have been kicked out!!!! I've been in since Jun 2002, and I have to say that the NAVY is definitely a hard then average job. I can also say that sometimes I hate it, and sometimes I love it. It has its ups and downs (just like any other job). Brainwashing? huh I have plenty of Marine friends I keep in contact with and I've yet to hear of brainwashing from any of them. The ones who are bashing the Military (ESPECIALLY THE NAVY) are a bunch of losers who couldn't hack it. It's as simple as that. Good luck on those pizza deliveries boys, ha ha ha!

I'm truly amazed at how american pinheads equate Iraq with a true war of liberation and freedom like WW2. Iraq has nothing to do with freedom or protection of the US. I just came back from HCMC (Sai Gon), and if that's communism, the world needs more communism. The people were nice including the Immigration officials, the women are beautiful and sensuous, the food is great and the economy is on the rise. Canada Day sponsored by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce was one of the greatest parties I've ever been to. Canadians are very cool.
