2004 USS Dallas Med Run - (SSN 700) Med Run 2004
So how is the crew of the USS Dallas doing?
Pretty shitty from what I have been told. After 4.5 months into the run they pulled into 2 ports. My buddy Luke just left the navy. The boat dropped him off in Bahrain and he stayed at the only hotel in town that let Americans stay there because all of the other hotels were afraid to get bombed for letting Americans stay there.
The cheifs onboard were complaining because they could not get a hotel out on town while my friend was worried about getting beheaded. Kinda shows you just how bad that med run must be if people would rather risk being beheaded than be onboard.
My friend flew out of Bahrain and was not beheaded. I talked to him on the phone today and he is doing well.
I also talked to a couple other friends so far while they were in that last deployment pit stop. They said that they were on rations ever since a few weeks into the run. In addition they said that they brought the seals onboard and did not do any excercises with them. They just hotracked and were on rations for 2.5 months.
good stuff. I wish I were there...
Posted at July 23, 2004 5:50 PMAaron, they now field day twice a day because some Squadron guys came onboard and said it was dirty. They were considering firing the COB and EDMC over it. They also have Cinderella liberty in port, and 10PM day before duty. Justin said that they are all Miserable.
I spent six years in the Special Forces out of Fort Bragg, and experienced a side of service the cramped quarters of a tug boat hardly matches. Nearly every day was pure hell, yet I stuck it out; despite the shit I had to say while I was in it, I now feel nothing but respect for myself for having done so.
There mere fact that I could complete my obligation in the face of my displeasure says something about me, just like the fact that you turn your discharge into a virtue says a lot about you. You failed at playing the game, and know inside its not a crowning achievement.
I hated the military, but you were not able to even maintain that level of integrity necessary to remain a part of the despised.
Who's the *dumb shitbag*?
"Who's the *dumb shitbag*?"
probably the person who refers to others they do not even know using such language and cowardly does not sign his name to his statements.
congrats on the discharge. hope it makes you FEEL IMPORTANT!!!
ps: if you want to put your money where your mouth is sign up as a submarine nuclear reactor operator. when you get out honorably after 6 years with an honorable discharge I will personally give you a $40,000 bonus.
if you don't make it through you can write your appoligy for being judgemental and wrong right here on this very page.
Luke, you have no idea how much worse it got after you left. Well, I was there for part of it, but now I am left behind in Italy along with Shawn for something that came up, so I sort of got the good deal. Anyway, it might be as though if I am here long enough I will have to transfer to another boat. Oh, yeah, one more thing: I sure hope the COB gets his in the end of things. That cocksucker needs to just shut up and die already. He is definitely out to fuck anyone he can to make himself look better.
Carlos, I hated to hear of the plight you and Shawn are in. I wish I could help you two. I am glad I left when I did. From what I have heard things only got worse. It is unfortunate. You and Shawn should contact Aaron Wall, the creator of this site, to get my phone number and give me a call. I look forward to hearing from the two of you.
Luke "Master Jedi" Broom

Arneson, my husband is still in the black pit of hell. They are on a 5 week run, and things are not looking good. Everything is broken. They can't even pull too far off shore in case something happens and they need to be rescued. It just gets worse and worse all the freaking time. Shawn is now on the Springfield and is doing so much better!
Man... after reading all of this shit, I am GLAD that I got an ELMS shortly after completing boot camp. I've spoken to a few of my buddies and they're telling me how much it sucks too.
It's funny though, almost a year later, I got a full paid scholarship (no need for the GI Bill!), a great girlfriend, and ironically, enough, I'm working at a retired Air Force Base doing what I love.
